Idea Creation. Going That Bit Further
After creating my park scene in imovie, i felt it was in need of an introduction. So i borrowed a camera from college again, brought it home and took shots as if the shoes were being brought home then coming alive. It worked well and gave the park scenes a beginning.
To create my scenes at home i first created a storyboard so i knew where i was going with the shots and to br able intergrade it with the park scenes.

Idea Creation. Bringing My Idea To Life
With my park footage i began to edit it using imovie. I began to add music to see what fitted with the scenes. I tryed "new shoes" by Paolo Nutini. The words went with the scenes but the beat didn't quite go. I then heard a remix of 'sweet child O'Mine' by Taken By Trees on Radio 1. I tryed this on my clips and it worked.

Idea Creation
Once i decided on my final idea and how i would like to present it i borrowed a Camcorder from college to capture some footage of my shoes at the park to experiment. I decided to film the shoes meeting at the park, firstly meeting at the bench, then head off to the roundabout and then to the swings. With the intention of speeding up the clips on the roundabout and swings so it flowed. At this point i wasn't to sure if this would work, and if i would be able to capture the flow i was after.
I took a total of 155 photos at the park, slowly moving the shoes to create a good flow movement. With all this footage i had an idea to create a short film accompanied by music in iMovie.
Introduction to imovie
Imovie Notes
We had an introduction to imovie, in imovie you can upload and edit videos and import photos to create a stop motion video. It is very usefull as you can edit the time and length of the video, cut out parts you don't need and add audio.
Photos in imovie:
Ken Burns Effect - Can create a moving image out of a still image, by zooming in and speeding it up.
Audio in imovie:
Can record a comentry
Also picks up music from itunes
Video in imovie:
Editing and cutting video clips:
Play head - click - position player head to position you want to cut - edit - split video clip at player head.
Trans in imovie:
Play with speed settings to create the effect you desire.

First stages of rich media progect
One of my ideas is to have shoes going on a journey, so i did some experimental stop motion shots to see if it would work out.
This was my first attempt on my own with the stop motion technique, it looks ok but i could have really done with a camera stand so the background stays the same and only the shoes move!
This was my second attempt, i had a camera stand for this one and moved the shoes slowly to give it a better effect.
I then continued the journey in the park experimenting with the roundabout and swings.
For this one i've done two sceens as one has people walking past and the other i've cut them out, however i think both work well.

Introduction to Flash
Today we had an introduction to flash which will eventually enable us to create our rich media final idea. I plan to use flash within my idea to create a website or video so you can view different scenes to my animation story.
Notes:
Flash files
Fla = Flash editor
Swf = Flash player
Files in illustrator & Photoshop need to be in RGB colour.
Size - 800 x 600
Bottons
*Create button
*Select it
*Modify - convert to symbol - button - ok
*Double click on it
*Get to "up, over, down, hit" stage
*Insert - timeline - keyframe
*Change colour on different states - final state create a box over button.
Play movie to view action
Action script:
on (release) (gotoAndStop(enter frame);

Group Experiment into Stop Motion
The clips below were our first experiment using the Stop Motion technique. We captured these by using camcorders and the programme "Stop Motion". We also experimented with sound effects, adding a track to the clip. The whole film was edited using "IMovie" on Apple Mac computers

Koyaasnisquatsi
The class watched the film Koyassanisquatsi (see clip below), its of a city coming alive and the peace of live and how we all move around it at high speed (footage filmed using time lapse and slow motion techniques). The film captures the viewer emotionally by using the sound of opera.

Design for Rich Media Breif
Date Set: 19th April 2010
Date Due: 27th May 2010
* Develop an experimental approach to new and emergent media
* Explore communication strategies for new and emergent media
* Learn about the application of new and emergent technologies
* Keep an ongoing record of your explorations and developments in the form of a blog - what I'm doing here.
BRIEF:
Choose from one of the briefs below:
(a) Create a set of interactive instructions using photography or video with an appropriate multimedia software.
Examples:
- Record a "How to . . " - Sequence - "Wiring a plug"
(b) Produce a piece of interactive media that shows one journey from different/varying viewpoints.
Examples:
- Walk - Night out
(c) Create a visual timeline from a personal interpretation of history and present using sound, photography, video or an approprite motion graphics.
Examples:
- Film - Make own sound track - Quick time movie
My initial idea is to choose brief (b) - producing a piece of interactive media that shows one Journey, but i will carry out further research before choosing my final piece.
